Overseas Chinese Class

  To help relieve the worry of overseas Chinese returning to China for the construction of Shanghai about their children's education, No. 2 High School of East China Normal University (HSEFZ) specially sets up 'overseas classes' for them and provides their children with quality education.

I. Requirements for candidates of 'overseas classes':
   1. Identity: they must hold foreign passports or proof of permanent residence in a foreign country;
   2. Age: they can be pupils of the fifth grade or junior high three graduates;
   3. Others: one or both of the parents must be Chinese in origin.

II. Teaching management of 'overseas classes':
   1. Curriculum:
   a. The main teaching language is Chinese and the basic requirement is to complete junior high and/or senior high diploma education;
   b. Our school opens basic courses of Chinese, Mathematics, English, Science and Humanities;
   c. With our school tradition of 'education for the gifted' integrated, it sets up activity courses specializing in the development of students' characteristics, specialties and interests;
   d. Based on students' nationalities and to meet the requirements of their development, it also sets up selective courses of 'SAT' and 'Entrance Exams for Children of Chinese Back from Japan'.
   2. Administration:
   a. Our schools adopts the idea of 'small class teaching';
   b. To help overseas students have more communication with local Chinese students, teaching sites of 'overseas classes' are set within the Domestic Division of our school and most of the educational and teaching activities for them are planned in the same way as those for students of the Domestic Division;
   c. Our school assigns experienced teachers as class teachers and course teachers for them.
   3. Teaching materials:
   a. Our school uses local Shanghai teaching materials for 'overseas classes';
   b. At the same time, according to the gaps between students in their levels of Chinese and English languages, it sets up intensive Chinese courses and English courses and uses specific school-based teaching materials for them;
   c. It assigns experienced foreign teachers to teach courses of 'SAT', specific for European and American countries, and 'Writing in Japanese'.
